We are always excited to work with customers to build them up their dream bike! We offer a variety of custom build options to work with different budgets and different visions. After talking with you about what you want, we can give you a ballpark quote.

Base Custom Build Labor Pricing

Wheel Build Labor: $80 per wheel

  • We often do in-house wheel builds for custom bicycle builds, but also offer custom handbuilt wheels for your existing bikes, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re looking to upgrade! 

Keystone Custom Geared Build Labor: starting at $200

  • This option is for you if you have an overall vision, but mostly want to trust us here at KBC for the specifics of your build. For this we would have an initial consultation and you can tell us what frame you want, what you want to use the bike for, if you want to go with mostly silver or black components, and then we take over from there. We’ll stick to the guidelines you give us and you’ll leave all of the technical decisions up to us. This is best for folks who like our vibe and trust us to build them the bike of their dreams. This is also a good choice for folks with a tighter budget.  

 

Single Speed Custom Build Labor: starting at $150

  • This is for single speed builds only! Because there is no shifting system, these builds take a little less work on our end and are priced lower accordingly. There are additional charges for any add-on labor, such as fenders, racks, dynamo lighting, wheel builds, etc. 

Full Custom Build Labor: starting at $350

  • This option is for you if you have specific requests and you want to pick out components on your bike and be more involved in the process. This build labor costs more to account for the extra consult time (emails and phone calls back and forth, sourcing parts, research we have to do to make sure everything you want is compatible, etc.). We love to work closely with customers to ensure your bike comes out just the way you want, so we wanted to make sure we could offer this custom build option. If you originally thought you wanted to Keystone Custom and realized you want to have more control over your build, we can always upgrade you to this build. We would also opt to do this build if you are providing many of the components yourself.

We’re happy to customize your build to your needs! Additional features like dynamo set ups, racks, and fenders can be added on at a discounted labor rate as part of any custom build.

There will be an additional charge for frame prep on any frame that has not yet been chased and faced.

We are dealers for Crust Bikes, Velo Orange, Kona, Soma, All City, Surly, New Albion, Fairdale, and more. If you are interested in any of these brands, we may have something for you in stock or are able to source it for you! Full custom builds with frames sourced through us usually range around $3000 - $5000, with options to upgrade to nicer components or do more add-ons (handbuilt wheels, dynamo set up, etc). 

If you are providing your own frame: custom builds generally range around $1500 - $3500, with options to upgrade to nicer components or do more add-ons (handbuilt wheels, dynamo set up, etc).
